BLURB:
Patricia is a mother who refuses to stay out of her daughter’s life even when she dies. Sally can hear her mother, but she can't see her spirit. At first she welcomes her return, but as the month’s progress she starts to feel increasingly peeved by her mother’s constant interference in her life. When she tells a few white lies on a dating application form, Patricia sets out to prove that lies are not a foundation for a healthy relationship.

Patricia sabotages a relationship between Sally and Emilio to prove her point, not realising her interference has caused a catastrophic chain reaction in the spirit world. The children allocated to Emilio and Sally can no longer be born. It is now down to the spirit of Emilio’s grandmother to put things right. But has Patricia caused too much damage for her to mend?

EXCERPT:
Sally opened her eyes and sat up. She wished for the courage to say, come in and scrub my back, darling. Although her thoughts were filled with erotic images, her life was more ordered and mundane. She got out and dried herself off, combing her fingers through her curls, knowing they would erupt on her head in a mad tangle of tiny springs as they dried. With her underwear washed and drying on a radiator, Sally wrapped a towel tightly around herself. Conscious of her nakedness, she left the bathroom. She saw Emilio seated on a biscuit-colored sofa, looking freshly showered and dressed in a clean, white shirt and blue trousers.

You are a sexy goddess, she told herself as she walked toward him.

She sashayed closer and an effervescent pleasure washed over her as Emilio’s eyes widened. She dipped her eyes and flicked her lashes, which she hoped looked provocative. Sally met his smile with a slow one of her own.

“I’ve ordered breakfast. I hope you don’t mind. I chose a selection. We can eat while we wait for your clothes to come back from the laundry. In the meantime, you might be more comfortable in this.” He handed her a heavy, blue, shapeless bathrobe.

Disappointment pushed the smile from her face. Her attempt at seduction failed miserably. She might as well wear a dust sheet. Embarrassed, she snatched it from his hand and stalked to the bathroom.

BLURB:
It is the deadliest crocodile attack ever recorded. On February 19th, 1945, one thousand Japanese soldiers retreated into the fetid mangrove swamps of Ramree Island hoping to escape their British enemy. However they soon discovered that the sixteen kilometre stretch of marshland that promised to offer safe cover, had delivered them straight into the jaws of hell.

Inspired by true events during WWII, Sunset on Ramree follows young musician-turned-soldier Shigeatsu Nakadai and his best friend, Kodi, as they head ever deeper into danger.

EXCERPT:
Lance-Corporal Hokuto Mayazuki has always been one of the luckiest soldiers in the Japanese Imperial Army. The scars of no less than six shrapnel cuts and bullet wounds tattoo the left side of his neck, all the way from ear to shoulder. So many miraculous escapes over a three-year tour of duty in the Pacific. Yet he will be among the first to die this evening--according to the medical officer--though not from any wound.

Today is February 19th, 1945, and he is succumbing to a strange, horrid fever. If one so tough can fall easily, I tell myself, what chance have any of us, retreating into these deadly marshlands of Ramree Island?

It is 16:45 and the British forces have outflanked us. Word spreads throughout our battalion that there is no escape. The mangrove swamp--a thick, stifling, fetid place of only damp reprieve--suddenly provides our only protection. And it is here, in the coming hours, that from the jaws of our defeat, Nature will try to snatch us for Herself. There are a hundred unseen ways for a man to die. We can never give in and time must therefore be the grind of the blade, that by our own hand we draw death--an honourable death. What end waits for me, I wonder? My name is Shigeatsu Nakadai. I do not want this sunset to be my last.

The water I pour onto my neck to drown a dozen large ants is drinking water. I curse the decision. From here on, saltwater is all we'll find. When my canteen runs dry, I'll start to die of thirst. The thought occurs to me to pilfer some of Mayazuki's--he's almost dead anyway--but the reasoning proves double-edged. What if he contracted his disease from that water? Is it worth the risk? Thirst or fever: in prolonging life by one means, might I not simply protract death by another? I decide to leave him his flask and take his can opener instead.

We've been rushing for hours. Our battery stronghold is now miles to our rear. Colonel Ojihoru is a determined man, but determined to do what? If we are not permitted to surrender, and there is no way through the British lines, what is his hurry? Suicide now or suicide later, it seems academic. Stoicism is my only refuge. It's as much a performance as those I give each night in my dreams--in the orchestra of Chadwick Hall in Canberra, where I play the clarinet--except this performance is to myself. Of all the ways to leave this swamp, suicide is the most impossible, at least to me. I'm quite sure that when the time comes to die with honour, I'll cry in front of the whole regiment. Will I be the only one?

Colonel Ojihoru never hesitates. Though he's knee-deep in swamp water, his feet remain on firm ground. That is his constitution. Lieutenants Katsumoto and Tanaka both salute as he points them, respectively, to the northeast and southeast corners of our retreat. As far as I can tell, we're trekking east. I catch up to Katsumoto as he clambers over a fallen tree in the water. He is my friend. Ever since he learned of my civilian profession, he's expressed a desire to hear me play the clarinet. I have surmised he is a well-educated, cultured man, both by his eloquence and his even-handed approach to leadership. Unlike Ojihoru, Katsumoto is liked as well as respected by the men.

"Sir, is it true we're surrounded on all sides?" I ask.

"Hmm ... would you like the long version, Nakadai, or the short?"

"The easiest to swallow, sir."

"Very well," he replies matter-of-factly. "There are British troops to our rear, and we think a British-Indian contingent may have landed to the east. Reaching General Ushui now seems unlikely. All we have right now is this swamp, and no intention of surrendering. Keep your wits about you, Nakadai; this place can kill a man on a whim when he isn't in the middle of a war. My advice is to pick someone you trust, stay close, and watch out for one another. Oh, and steer clear of the deeper water."

"I will, sir. Thank you."

With that, he pats me on the shoulder and wades out into the swamp. I think about reminding him of his own advice--to stay away from deep water--but he has no alternative. There is no way round. A dozen or so mosquitoes emerge from a nearby bush. They plague Katsumoto until he disappears from view. I see endless greens and browns suffocating our route, and no sign of life save one or two of our number creeping nervously through the water. Their eyes hardly look up. What's lurking beneath the surface? I hurry back to dry land, back to my friends on whom I count to keep me safe.

SPICE UP YOUR LIFE WITH GINGER

No, we're not talking recipes. Today's blog is to introduce you to the marvelous author Ginger Simpson who has a penchant for words and weaving them into stories you won't want to miss.

Ginger currently resides in Tennessee with her husband and biggest fan, Kelly. He believes he's the inspiration for all her romantic scenes, but she won't verify his claim.

A while back, she retired to devote more time to writing, but her promotional efforts, blogging, tweeting, and interacting with new friends on author’s and reader’s loops have stymied her efforts.

She watches her grandson, Spencer, in the afternoons, and besides seeing one of her books in a real "brick and mortar" store some day, her main goal is to help her little darling overcome his developmental delays caused by Autism.

Since the publication of her first book in May 2003, she has remained avid about adding to her accomplishments. Her favorite genre is western historical, but she has been known to dabble in other areas.

Ginger's got that "million dollar" book in the works, and one day hopes to haul someone into Wal-Mart, point to her novel and say, "That's me." She proclaims that Grandma Moses didn't make it big until her "golden" years, so why not be a believer that good things come to those who wait...and wait...and wait.

A 2009 EPIC Nominee, Ginger recently won the 2009 Best Historical Novel from Love Romances Cafe. To learn more about Ginger and her terrific books click here or read her interesting blog.

BLURB:
Two eras collide when a modern day attorney and a pioneer wife find themselves locked in a time not their own.

Mariah Cassidy awakens in the twentieth century. Confined in a pristine environment, hooked to tubes and beeping machines, she’s scared, confused and wondering why everyone keeps calling her Mrs. Morgan. Who is the strange man who keeps massaging her forehead and telling her everything is going to be alright?

Taylor Morgan tries to focus on her surroundings through a blinding headache. The patchwork quilt, the water basin, and the archaic room don’t strike a familiar chord. Her mouth gapes when a handsome man waltzes into the room, calls her darling, and expresses his delight that she’s on the road to recovery.

Clearly something is amiss.

EXCERPT:
Colorado Territory--1872

Taylor’s head pounded with pain. Trying to focus, she opened her eyes and blinked a few times, then propped herself up on her elbows. Everything looked strange. The room seemed bright and cheery, but things appeared very old fashioned. She fingered the patchwork quilt covering the bed, and puzzled over the antique mirror hanging above an old-time washbowl and pitcher across the room. An incessant ache throbbed in her temple.

Where was she? What’d happened to her? A zillion questions raced through her mind.

“David,” she called for her husband. Her voice painfully resonated in her head. “David, where are you?”

She slid off the bed. Her legs wavered beneath her and she clung to the bedpost. Slowly, as she regained her equilibrium, she weaved across the room and peered into the mirror. A massive bandage covered the top her head; black circles ringed her swollen eyes. She didn’t recognize herself.

“Boy, I look like hell,” she muttered.

As she raised her hand to touch the bandage, the door behind her opened, and she spied the reflection of a strange man.

“Mariah, sweetheart. You’re finally awake.” He crossed the room with open arms.

Taylor spun and faced him. Feeling disoriented, she shook her head. “You have the wrong room, sir.”

His brows arched. “Mariah, what are you talking about? What wrong room?”

“Look fella, I’m not Mariah. Evidently you’re in the wrong place if you are looking for someone by that name.”

The stranger rushed over and took her in his arms. “Oh my sweet angel, the bump on your head is worse than Doc Samuels thought.”

Taylor shoved him away. “Take your hands off me. Who is Doc Samuels, and who in the hell are you?”

Suddenly, the room spun. Her stomach turned queasy. Needing to sit, she staggered back to the bed, her gaze still assessing the stranger.

“I’m Frank… your husband.” He followed her, his head cocked, his eyes clouded in confusion.

She swallowed. “Excuse me? My husband’s name is David... David Morgan. I don’t know who you are, mister, but you must be the one who bumped your head if you think I’m your wife.”

“Well, if you aren’t, then just who might you be?”

“Taylor Morgan. I live in Denver. Can you please tell me where I am?”

“You’re in Colorado, about two hours from Denver City. Don’t you remember?”

“Two hours? How in the hell did I get here?”

Frank’s eyes widened. “When did you start cussing?”

“Don’t worry about it, just answer me. How did I get here?” Her last nerve frayed, and he plucked at it.

“Don’t you recall? We were going to town in the wagon—”

“Wagon? What the hell would I be doing in a wagon? A station wagon?”

Frank took a deep breath. “We were going to town, and Jacob needed to pee. I think he disturbed some rattlesnakes and they spooked the horses... Sound familiar?”

Taylor’s mind raced. Who was this loony? Before he spoke again, she assaulted him with a barrage of questions. “Who is Jacob? Wagon? What horses? I don’t know what you’re talking about. Frank... is it? Look, Frank, I have an idea. Why don’t you just call me a cab and I’ll get out of your way.”

She looked down at the tacky nightgown she wore and wondered who had removed her clothing. Tugging at the sack-like shift, she let out an exasperated huff. “If you’ll just retrieve my things, I’ll get dressed and be ready to go when the taxi gets here.”

WHERE PASSION AND LIFE COLLIDE

Today we have author MC Halliday who writes from the heart and will stir yours. Passion and depth are her creed. Well, see for yourself what MC has to say:

I admit!

I often write myself into my books. Beyond the extensive research and plotting, I seem to write my most troubling experiences into my noir mysteries and works of fantasy. One of my issues that show up in these books is the loss of my mother at a young age, my ongoing dreams she lives still or the suffering that ensued without her protection.

In, THE KING'S DAUGHTER, the heroine discovers her mother is alive:

“Solely, I be here to keep you safe.” The woman’s voice was soft, imploring.
Touched by the gentle tenderness, Magaith said, “Bear out the truth in what you say that I might have faith and depend on you.”

“I am your mother, known as Imagael. And you, my daughter to Bascogne.”

Magaith took pause, could this be? She found her voice. “The king, my father, spoke of my mother, long ago gone to the other-world.”

“I speak full truth, I am mother to you.”

Samhain Publishing

In a medieval Eire where the Druid legacy survives, the bartered daughter of a clan king struggles in a web of dark spells to save herself ~ and her beloved knight ~ while under the watchful eye of a lough wizard.

Due to a lack of guidance but in spite of poor treatment growing up, I remained a terribly gullible, trusting girl even when the actions of others proved otherwise; exactly as the heroine is depicted in my novel of Victorian historical erotica. I could not have written this novel without the insight and courage to weave my own internal struggles through the fictional memoirs, I Came Up Stairs: A Victorian Courtesan's Memoirs, 1867 to 1871:

“It was this period of weakness and self-doubt that I believe set the stage for what occurred in the coming weeks and months. It was my need for assurance and comfort that caused me to crave love so desperately.”

"The greatest challenge of my life has been to see and accept the actual truth without great pain and struggle against it."

An epic tale of love and lovers, war and heartbreak woven into the erotic memoirs of a courtesan unashamed of her amorous adventures.

Led from filth and poverty by a gentleman in the hopes of gaining coin for his purse, Mae is shaped into a lady and tutored in the arts of pleasure. With raw sensuality, she creates a seductive dance that entices the peerage in puritanical England, and she quickly becomes favored courtesan to Prince of Wales. Her renown and riches ever rising, she continues to romp with gamely men and women of both the nobility and the lower classes. Eventually, Mae’s bohemian ways cause suffering for those she loves and her own heartbreak. Must she conform to Victorian mores, or can she remain true to her sensual desires?

These intimate memoirs reveal a young woman’s journey from the slums of Whitechapel to celebrated dancer of the Victorian music hall, and courtesan to the highest peers of the British realm. From the years 1867 to 1871, Mae recounts her varied lovers and false loves, and her heartbreaking losses in a quest for happiness.

As much as I write a variety of genres, I believe my books would be less without the depth of my experiences reflected in the character’s challenges and the difficult path to hard won wisdom. My dedication in, The King’s Daughter:
“Everytime there is a struggle, it is a preparation for what is to come.”
Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes from the documentary, The Last Days of Left Eye

“At any place on the road of life we try to do the best we can with the knowledge we have at the time. Our journey is often fraught with rutted cobbles and wide streams but I believe each fall or flounder we might make along the way is a chance to learn, to do better.” MC Halliday

My dedication in, I Came Up Stairs, is one simple sentence:
To my mother, Maureen Grace, long gone and yet, ever the wind at my back.

If you are further intrigued, please visit my website for books currently available and links to long excerpts. I also have trailers on YouTube that might be of interest and regular posts on both Goodreads and Facebook.

I LOVE DIVAS

Aren't they the classiest four ladies you've ever seen? Deb from Dark Divas Reviews just awarded them to my book FRENCH TICKLER and I'm jumping for joy.

Below is a snippet, but you can read the complete review HERE.

Deb wrote: What do two star crossed lovers have when family and a crazed woman become involved? A huge problem.

The characters, Cisco and Samantha, complement each other. From her Jade green eyes to his delicious body, you feel the heat immediately.

I enjoyed this book as I did the first four in the Naughty Ladies of Nice series. Sloane captures your attention right from page one. Oh, I so love the way the French do things!

I have to say, I thought this was a book about a couple coming together for a first time chance meeting in Nice, but I was truly happy the story had a touch of suspense to it. Sloane kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen next. All I know is I won't be drinking sherry... ever.

My Recommendation: Get this series, sit back and bask in the sensual heat Sloane Taylor creates.

Rated 4 Delightful Divas by Deb!

A LITTLE KNOWN HORROR OF WAR

As an avid reader, I appreciate all genres and like to keep up with the latest release in each. One of my favorite authors is Robert Appleton because I absolutely love the diversity of his work. Rob writes in a variety of genres, mainly science fiction and historical. His latest book, SUNSET ON RAMREE is a rare insight to a little known event that took place in the Bay of Bengal during WWII.

Among Rob's recent sci-fi publications are Charlie Runs Rings Around the Earth, The Basingstoke Chronicles, and the thrilling Eleven-Hour Fall survival trilogy. He also writes the imaginative Esther May Morrow’s paranormal series as Arthur Everest. A keen footballer and kayaker, he lives in the hills of Lancashire, England.

His publishers include Eternal Press, Uncial Press, Lyrical Press, Club Lighthouse Publishing, and Damnation Books.

Be sure to check out Rob's WEBSITE to learn more about this talented author and his other excellent books and at his Mercurial Times BLOG.

Excerpt:
I try to conjure a memory of before the war—something, anything to distract me—but draw a blank every time. I purse my lips to whistle a familiar tune, but nothing comes out. I shut my eyes tight and roll them inward until they ache and release a heavy pulse. The screams and shots and calls for surrender are still there. Kodi and Sobiku are still there. I imagine the reed of a clarinet between my lips and the long, sustained breath given to making sweetly aching music. But nothing comes out. No tune, no melody, no woodwind to soothe the mangroves. Just the damp, cold harmonics of the night. I’m lost without music, and there is no music on Ramree.

Sloane's Review
Sunset on Ramree is a book you not only read, but live. Each word draws you in deeper to experience the fear and terror along with the lead characters, Shigeatsu and Kodi. This is one book I will not forget for a very long time and highly recommend you read. The e-book is available at ETERNAL PRESS. You can order the paperback at AMAZON.

THE BRITS LOVE ME!

Robert Appleton, British science fiction writer, is the owner of Mercurial Times, and has done an unrequested review of FRENCH KISS. Stepping out of his usual reading realm, below is a snippet of what Robert had to say.

Contemporary Erotic Romance
eBook 15,000 words
Eternal Press

Witty and crackling with sass, French Kiss, the fourth novelette in Sloane Taylor's Naughty Ladies of Nice series, is a standalone sexy short that promises and delivers a good time.

American sass meets provincial French in this lively romance, by turns sweet and sea-salty. I had a great time with this book. I don't normally read erotic romances, but Ms. Taylor's vibrant style isn't exclusive to the sex scenes, as it tends to be for some authors in this genre. Here she imbues the characters, scene setting and dialogue with quirky life all their own. Plus, the lovemaking is seriously hot.

My advice? Kick back and let the fizzy swells of French Kiss wash over you. This is one addictive series. Next up for me, FRENCH TWIST...

You can read the complete review here. Mercurial Times is a site that presents Robert's news and views. 2009 is his second year in the rollercoaster world of e-publishing. Be sure to visit his author HOMEPAGE. The man is a genius.

Blurb:
Lingerie designer Samantha Bradley is on the brink of major success. While having the time of her life in Nice she meets sexy Cisco Bernier, a man who turns her heart inside out and makes her body sizzle.

Despite being France’s key criminal prosecutor, Cisco’s success in relationships has been less than zero. When he meets Sam, his staid world goes up in flames.

Their happiness is short lived as their pasts collide. His underhanded mother and her mob-connected father resurface to threaten their future.

Excerpt:

“Do you not think her nipples are larger?” Cisco pointed to the charcoal nude on the young woman’s sketch pad. He looked across the coastline toward the subject in question as the middle-aged woman stooped and spread a towel across the pebbles.

“Perhaps, but it’s really hard to tell at this angle.” The artist swiped a thumb along a black line, softening the bold stroke, and laughed. “Besides, she won’t sit still long enough to get it right.”

She tossed her long black hair across her bare shoulders, and a light scent of honey drifted up to him, clouding his mind.

Cisco yanked his tie from around his neck, grateful for the light breeze off the Mediterranean that cooled his hot skin.

“Maybe if you…” He slipped the thin stick from her long fingers, then squiggled a larger, more intricate circle on the wheat colored paper. “Something like that.”

“Are you an artist?” She glanced up. Her large green eyes reminded him of polished emerald, sharp and clear, and just as exciting. At that moment he would be anything the beautiful American wanted him to be.

4 1/2 HEARTS from The Romance Studio.
Reviewer: Brenda Talley
Posted March 9, 2009

Ms. Sloane Taylor used her fabulous way with words to explain these two alpha characters. Sam was from the US; Cisco was from Nice. The unknown factors in each live could have gotten them killed. The happily every after was a long way from easy to obtain.

The two main characters were so focused on each other they failed to notice the problems which arose in the other’s life. This story had all the important elements even though it was a fast-paced novella. The sensuality was sizzling! The suspense was intense. The outcome was surprising. This book had drama and was hard to put down. I was glued to the pages because I wanted to know the outcome. It was definitely not an obvious storyline.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes their sex scorching and their conflict resolved. This was a great book to read when the time is short but you need a quick romance fix.

TUESDY TEASER

The Naughty Ladies of Nice
Book Four

FRENCH KISS

Eternal Press

BLURB:
Straight-laced children's author, Rachel Conklin, awakens on a deserted island wrapped in the arms of a sexy pirate. Convinced she's in a dream conjured from the pages of her breakout novel, Rachel casts her inhibitions to the wind and seduces the handsome sailor. Rides the waves of passion

Pediatrician Henri Bernier wasn't quite sure what to do with the sexy mermaid he'd pulled from the sea. Then she started kissing him and sent his libido soaring. Now the good doctor is ready for anything.

EXCERPT:
Warm tingles started in her belly, pooling low in her abdomen, a sensation she’d long missed. His lips were strong, supple, working her own apart. She glided her tongue along the seam of his mouth, loving the salty taste and the rasp of his beard on her bruised face. Moisture filled her panties, making her alive and wanting more. She laced an arm around the broad shoulders leaning over her, curling her fingers in his long, silky hair.

Her nipples puckered more with each stroke as he glided his hand along her spine, continuing lower over the curve of her ass to her thigh. Wet sand greeted her when he smoothly rolled them over. Her legs parted, welcoming her secret pirate. Nope, make that swashbuckler. More romantic.

Shivers raced through her and he held her closer. His body heat, a beautiful thing, shrouded them. Her breasts grew heavier, straining against her shirt, with his solid erection pressing into her. She wiggled closer, needing to feel him inside her.

Indistinguishable sounds filled her ears, forgotten lyrics from an old, sweet love song. She wanted to remember, but not enough to give up her fantasy man and the erotic glow of mystery sex.

A LITTLE LATER:

Rachel wiped the steam from the cheval mirror and caught Henri’s image. He stood in the bathroom doorway, frozen, staring at her reflection. She smiled at his shocked expression, enjoying the fact she had him at a disadvantage. The bath towel dropped from her fingers, exposing her breasts. With her good hand she pulled the wet hair off her back then draped it over a shoulder, exposing her neck.

He walked forward like a man in a trance, stopping close enough behind her to hear his raspy breaths. His finger glided down her spine, lingering on the elastic band of her red bikini panties.

“You are beautiful.” His words came out hoarse as he seemed to struggle for oxygen.

Merci, Henri.” Her smile widened, her nipples pebbling at his gentle touch. She reached back for his free hand, hanging limp at his side, then laid it across her bare ribcage. His smooth skin felt warm against her damp flesh.

“Your wrist should be in the sling.” He laid a soft kiss on her shoulder, wrapping a hand around her forearm.

Your cock should be inside me. A shiver ran up her spine at the delicious thought.

His fingers played across her abdomen, sending tingles of anticipation, as they climbed higher. He cupped her breast, massaging her aching skin until she thought she would come. The entire time he watched her reflection in the mirror as his thumb made slow, teasing circles around her areola.

A heavy pressure built in her abdomen, increasing with each stroke until her legs trembled. She gritted her teeth as a long shudder ran through her.

She pressed her ass into his solid erection for support and her panties filled with cream.

God, how she needed some part of him inside her.

Desire took control. With shaking fingers, she guided his other hand down from her waist, lower until she stopped at the elastic band on her wet panties.

A soft laugh sang in her ear as he slid along the fabric, across her mound and stopped. Breath caught in her throat, waiting for him to enter.

He moved his hand to her thigh, edging painfully slow to her aching nub. She wrapped her fingers around his forearm, encouraging him to travel below the saturated cloth. As if understood the unspoken request, his fingers glided between her wet hairs.

First, one thick finger entered her throbbing cavity, the sensation rocking her world. He laughed again and inserted another finger, massaging against her sweet spot.

She arched her back, her head resting on his shoulder, preparing for the joy of release.

“Come for me, mas petit.” His heavily accented words pushed her closer while his fingers worked magic in her womb.

Her trembling body tensed. She clutched his arm, squeezing her thighs tight around his hand, moving her hips against him. Shivers coursed through her. The surmounting pressure almost unbearable, until her world exploded into shards of crystal.

He spun her limp frame in his arms, his fingertips skimming across her tender nipples. She melted against him, his crisp hairs pressed into her breasts.

Book Three

FRENCH TWIST

Eternal Press

BLURB:

Interpol agent Claudette D’Laquois is on the run. Dull Uncle Paul and his rundown chateau in Nice, France are her only safe haven…but she never planned on the delectable estate manager who is even more dangerous than the Russian mob boss who wants her dead.

Three weeks of overseeing operations at his friend’s orchard seems like the ideal vacation to CPA Don Hobbs. And so it was—until a French sex goddess pulls him into a world of drugs, intrigue, and erotic fantasy.

EXCERPT:

“Baby, you’re up to your beautiful brown eyes in shit.” Don leaned against the office door frame, his arms crossed over his chest as if that could control his temper.

Claudette gave him one of her typical French sniffs. Chicks from Marseille had one hell of a disposition, he decided for about the twentieth time since he’d been forced to work with her.

Bonjour, Monsieur Hobbs. It is nice to see you, too, this beautiful morning.” Again with the sniff. He’d enjoy nothing more than spanking the firm ass of his unwanted assistant, but figured she’d rat him out to her Uncle Paul.

“Glad you’re able to relax with a ton of that reeking stuff parked in the front yard.” Don blinked and shoved his glasses up his nose, forcing his eyes away from her long legs stretched across the scarred desktop. Just once, he wished, she’d have a little decorum and wear slacks to work. “Do you have plans to do something with it?”

Mon ami, you make too much of small things.” Claudette crossed one knee over the other and didn’t bother to tug down her short red skirt. Don swallowed hard. She sniffed again and held her hand at arm’s length, inspecting her nails. That irritating, hoity-toity attitude of hers had to go. “Plus, you exaggerate. I simply checked one of the little boxes on the form and mailed it to the supplier. He obviously made the mistake, if what you say is truth.”

He slapped the side of the desk to get her undivided attention. Right then he’d do anything to erase the image of those well toned calves wrapped around his neck. Dammit, why were French women so sexy?

“No, doll, there’s literally a ton of cow dung right out there on the circular drive.” He hooked a thumb over his shoulder, his other hand nudging her legs aside to grab a sheaf of papers. “I don’t know what the hell you ordered, but that’s what you got. So what’s your plan, baby? I happen to have a shovel in your size.”

Her chair skated back, just short of hitting the bookcase. Gritting her teeth, she tossed the little glass nail file she’d been using onto a stack of papers and stood.

“Do not treat me like a stupid woman—.” Cheeks flaming, she got right into his face. “Or your wife.”

“One, you’re not stupid. You only like to pretend you are.” He ticked the points off the fingers on his free hand. “Two, thank God I don’t have a wife. With my bad luck, she might have been just like you.”

She glared at him for one intense second before she jerked the order form from his hand.

“You, monsieur, need to be taught manners.”

“You, mademoiselle, need a good spanking.”

A coy smile tweaked the corners of her pouty, full lips. “That may be so, you uptight Américain, but this is not the time to discuss my sexual preferences.”
